Eddie Redmayne is to feature in the second season of Sky and Peacock’s drama The Day of the Jackal. The first season of this thriller was recently released, so viewers can only wait where the eponymous killer will go next. The question, this time, isn’t where he is off to it is clear that whoever the Jackal is gunning for had better start looking over the next shoulder—and even their front.
Redmayne played the role of a professional assassin who the storyline that had been adapted from Frederick Forsyth’s novel of the same name referred to as the Jackal during the debut season of the most recent adaptation. Not only does the skilled assassin know how to shoot very well, and know how to go hunting for a target (thanks in part to his time in the military), but he is also a master of disguise.
In the entire first series of episodes, the viewers saw him evolving from person to person, changing his outfit in a whole series of different costumes and always with an advantage over the police. His main foe during Season 1 was Lashana Lynch’s (Bob Marley: Bianca Pullman who is an MI6 agent that chased him in all the ten episodes of the series one love.
As soon as The Day of the Jackal came out in the U.S. thank to Peacock, it become one of the platform’s most successful releases of the year. This title has also settled into the number one position on the platform’s Top 10 on a weekly basis, which only goes to show that audiences could not get enough of the thrilling fare.
Finally, at the end of last month, we got the telling that the show was renewed for Season 2. For fans, this was the breath of relief they needed to see out the remaining episodes knowing that Redmayne’s killer character would be at it again shortly.
Far from being new to big wins in the awards season, Redmayne is a twice honored OSCAR nominated performer and winner of the OSCAR award in The Theory of Everything.
His work in The Day of the Jackal goes on with the streak as he recently received a nomination for the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award—both in a category of Best Actor in a Drama Series. In regard to the show, the thriller is also receiving attention from critics and has even been nominated for Golden Globe’s Best Television Series – Drama as well as Critics Choice.
